As 2019 wraps up, NADCP is looking back with much to celebrate! Year after year, your tireless efforts in the field ensure treatment courts are saving lives, reuniting families, and leading justice reform. Your success and continued support for NADCP has led us to new heights.

Here are some highlights from 2019:

From new treatment provider trainings to robust technical assistance and new online resources, NADCP’s training divisions are innovating to improve and expand your programs:

• NDCI launched Briefings, a training curriculum exclusively for law enforcement on the key tools officers need to build agency-wide understanding of treatment courts and diversion programs.
• NCDC and DWI courts were featured in a new Governors Highway Safety Association report highlighting the need for a holistic, individualized approach to ending the impaired driving epidemic.
• Justice For Vets expanded their online resources, launching 18 free, online education resources for all professionals and mentors working in veterans treatment courts, including Trauma Awareness, an online course for all veterans treatment court professionals.  

For 2019, NADCP launched the dynamic new brand for our annual training conference, RISE. This year, RISE19 welcomed more than 6,000 justice system professionals from across the globe to National Harbor, Maryland. Next year, RISE20 comes to Anaheim, California where it promises to be even bigger, with more than 300 sessions and 30 tracks.

Congress allocated $173 million in federal funding to treatment courts, a $4 million increase over last year. In 2019 and beyond, treatment courts continue to enjoy strong bipartisan support because you take the time to educate members of Congress on your lifesaving work.

NADCP’s Advancing Justice initiative released the second volume of the Journal for Advancing Justice, examining innovative solutions to America’s opioid crisis in treatment courts and beyond.
