Note: Adult drug courts can include: adult drug courts, tribal healing to wellness courts, DWI courts, and co-occurring courts. Check each solicitation for the specific types of adult treatment courts that are eligible to apply.

BJA Adult Drug Court Discretionary Grant Solicitation
The U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) announced its Adult Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program for fiscal year 2022. The grant program provides financial and technical assistance to states, state courts, local courts, units of local government, and Native American tribal governments to enhance the operations of existing treatment courts or to implement new treatment courts. Treatment court models eligible for funding include adult drug courts, co-occurring courts, DWI courts, and tribal healing to wellness courts.
Deadlines:
- Grants.gov deadline: May 20, 2022
- JustGrants deadline: May 25, 2022
Applicants are required to complete a two-step submission process; more information can be found on page three of the Notice of Funding Opportunity.

About the Grant Program
The Adult Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program is designed to support adult drug courts, co-occurring courts, DWI courts, and tribal healing to wellness courts in the following categories:
Category 1: Planning and Implementation Grants
- Award amount: $700,000 each
- Award period: 48 months
Category 2: Enhancement Grants
- Award amount: $750,000 each
- Award period: 48 months
Category 3: Statewide Grants
- Award amount: $2,000,000 each
- Award period: 48 months

Expand Treatment Capacity with SAMHSA Funds
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has released new grants to expand substance use disorder treatment and recovery support services in existing treatment courts.

About the Grant Program
State, local, or tribal entities seeking funding to expand treatment in their existing treatment court program.
- Award amount: up to $400,000/yr
- Award period: 5 years
All applicants MUST register with NIH’s eRA Commons to submit an application. This process takes up to six weeks. If you believe you are interested in applying for this opportunity, you must start the registration process immediately. See Appendix 1, pages 34-37, for all required registration information, including NIH’s eRACommons.
Juvenile Drug Treatment Court Program
FY22 funding is available to enhance operational juvenile drug treatment courts by implementing evidence-based practices from the Juvenile Drug Treatment Court Guidelines.
Deadlines:
- May 25, 2022: The SF-242 and SF-LLL must be submitted to Grants.gov.
- June 8, 2022: The full application must be submitted to JustGrants.

The U.S. Department of Justice Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) is seeking applications for funding under the FY 2022 Family Treatment Court Program. The grant program provides financial and technical assistance to states, state courts, local courts, units of local government, and Native American tribal governments.
Deadlines: Applicants must meet two deadlines as part of a new two-step application process:
- May 25, 2022: The SF-242 and SF-LLL must be submitted to Grants.gov.
- June 8, 2022: The full application must be submitted to JustGrants.

- Award amount: $820,000 each
- Award period: 36 months
