Drug Court Month 2018 is off to a great start! We see your courts in the news already, and we enjoy reading your submissions as they roll in, telling us what your courts are planning this month. Keep them coming! Each week, we’ll share a roundup of your success. Here’s highlights from week 1:

Featured Event: Eat the Street | Franklin, TN

The 21st District Recovery Court in Franklin, Tennessee has made Eat the Street, a food truck fundraiser, an event the entire community looks forward to each year for seven years in a row. With more than 30 food trucks, free concerts from local musicians and a family-friendly picnic atmosphere, this is a standout among National Drug Court Month community events!

Featured Proclamations | Cleburne County, AR & CNMI

In The Sun Times: “Local Court Celebrates National Drug Court Month with Proclamation Signing by County Judge & Graduation of Two Drug Court Participants.” Using the sample op-ed in NADCP’s toolkit as a starting point, Arkansas’ Cleburne County Drug Court made the front page!

In the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Lt. Governor Victor B. Hocog signed a National Drug Court Month proclamation surrounded by dozens of other officials and drug court team members. Superior Court Presiding Judge Robert C. Naraja said the CNMI Drug Court has “grown into a shining example of what the three branches of government can do when they work together.”

Featured Graduation | Mason, MI

With 22 graduates and a keynote speech by Michigan Supreme Court Justice Elizabeth Clement, the 55th District Court Sobriety Court celebrated not only its own success, but the success of treatment courts across the state of Michigan with “happy tears and poignant speeches about hope for the future.” Congratulations!
