On May 15, Rep. Hal Rogers (R-KY) gave a speech on the House floor honoring treatment courts and recognizing the 30th anniversary. Said Rogers, “At this moment, drug courts are providing a new lease on life to 144,000 Americans around the country. Thank you to the countless professionals who make up our 3,000 drug courts.” We second the congressman’s gratitude and add our thanks in particular to the treatment court professionals working so diligently in Kentucky!

Two governors provided keynote speeches at treatment court graduations recently. Virginia Governor Ralph Northam told graduates of the Newport News Behavioral Health Docket, “The sky is the limit. You can be whatever you want to be in this commonwealth and in this country.” South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem said of one drug court graduate, “I want to hear more stories like Mary’s. Her story is a testimony of reclaiming hope – proof that perseverance produces progress, and that addiction can be beat.” Read her op-ed here.
