BJA Opens FY 2018 Adult Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program Solicitation

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) released the Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 Adult Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program solicitation. The grant program provides financial and technical assistance to states, state courts, local courts, units of local government and Native American tribal governments to implement and enhance treatment courts.
Treatment court models eligible for funding include adult drug courts, driving while intoxicated (DWI)/driving under the influence (DUI) courts, co-occurring courts, veterans treatment courts and tribal healing to wellness courts.
BJA’s FY 2018 grants emphasize integration of the National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP) Adult Drug Court Best Practice Standards into existing drug court services. In addition, all applicants must demonstrate the treatment court(s) for which funds are sought do not deny eligible clients access because of their use of FDA-approved medications for the treatment of a substance use disorder (medication-assisted treatment).
Grants are available in the following categories:
- Implementation grants: $500,000 for 48 months
- Enhancement grants: $500,000 for 48 months
- Statewide grants: $2 million for 48 months
Applications are due on June 5, 2018.
