Members of Congress want to hear from YOU, their constituents. Follow these easy instructions to set up a meeting and get them to a graduation at your court.

District Meeting

Step 1: Call your member of Congress’s office in Washington, DC.

  • Look up your member’s contact information.
  • Ask to speak to the scheduler (you may be referred to the district scheduler if the member has one).

 

Step 2: Send a follow-up email.

  • Follow up with an email to the scheduler with all of the pertinent information about your event.

Step 3: Notify NADCP.

  • Contact Tonya Voelker, NADCP Director of Legislative Affairs, at 571-384-1863 or [email protected].  She can provide any information you may need for the meeting.

Step 4: Reconfirm the meeting via email 2 or 3 days before.

Step 5: Attend the meeting with the member.

Step 6: Send a personal thank you letter with photos.

Invite to Graduation

Members of Congress are frequently in their home states/districts. Treatment court graduation provides them with the perfect opportunity to be seen in the community and get media exposure.

We encourage you to invite your member(s) to a graduation or special event. Here are some handy instructions to make it happen.

Step 1: Call your member of Congress’s office in Washington, DC.

  • Look up your member’s contact information.
  • Ask to speak to the person handling judiciary issues.

Step 2: Send a follow-up email if congressional office has not confirmed attendance.

Step 3: Notify NADCP as soon as you have confirmed attendance.

  • Contact Tonya Voelker, NADCP Director of Legislative Affairs, at 571-384-1863 or [email protected].  Provide the following information:

- Name of member(s) of Congress and/or staff person attending
- Date, time, and location of graduation ceremony or event

Step 4: Prepare social media.

  • Prepare posts specific to your program and event. Be sure to tag your Members(s) in your posts.

Step 5: Reconfirm that the member is attending the event via email 3 to 5 days before.

Step 6: Hold your graduation ceremony or event.

Step 7: Send a personal thank-you letter with photos.
