The National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP) recognizes the importance of defense counsel as a Drug Court team member and recommends the presence of defense counsel at all Drug Court staffings and court sessions.  Defense counsel’s active involvement on the Drug Court team ensures:

■ there is no substantial differential treatment of Drug Court participants who are similarly situated.

■ all Drug Court participants are completely informed of their rights and the consequences they face in Drug Court not only as they enter the program but also during the entire time they participate in Drug Court.
