The holiday season between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day is one of the deadliest and most dangerous times on America's roadways due to an increase in impaired driving. Since 1981, every President of the United States has demonstrated the commitment to preventing impaired driving by proclaiming December as National Drunk & Drugged Driving Prevention Month or more recently, National Impaired Driving Prevention Month.
In December there will be a significantly increased enforcement effort combined with aggressive marketing on the annual Drunk Driving crackdown, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over. Local law enforcement officers will be out in force from December 14, 2012, to January 1, 2013, apprehending all drunk drivers and spreading the message.
This is a prime opportunity to discuss what DWI Courts are doing in
communities across the nation, preventing impaired driving by changing
the behavior of the repeat DWI offender. DWI Courts around the country
will be supporting National Impaired Driving Prevention Month holding
graduations and other events; all designed to demonstrate a commitment
to end impaired driving. The DWI Court Field Kit is designed to provide easy access to the tools needed to execute an impactful month. Below are links to key resources.
